Eagles' Dream Team Super Bowl Express doesn't derail steaming out of the terminal

NFL preseason openers are about as meaningless as parkas in August. And the play usually is ragged as a homeless person.
Nevertheless, with the Eagles rolling out their new Dream Team last night, the ol’ Zekester must give them some props for their 13-6 win over the Ravens at the Linc.
Of course, the first team played about as long as a hiccup. But it was nice to see Nnamdi Asomugha, Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie, Jason Babin, Cullen Jenkins, Vince Young, Ronnie Brown and Anthony Hargrove in Philadelphia unis and receive proof that the Birds’ 14 free-agent player shopping spree was not a mirage after all.
Michael Vick had just one series of action, LeSean McCoy touched the ball just once and DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin didn’t dress. Still, the Birds’ O was crisper than bacon.
And their defense under new coordinator Juan Castillo and DL coach Jim Washburn was aggressive, sending fastballs of revolving linemen to suffocate Baltimore and its Inner Harbor.
Even rookie kicker Alex Henery booted two field goals, an extra point and boomed four kickoffs into the end zone, leading to three touchbacks.
Granted, the NFL season is fraught with physical decimation and more bad bounces than an overweight kangaroo. Which is why it’s an unforgiving road from August to the Super Bowl.
