Bad election night for the right, which lost more than a Jenny Craig class

I hesitate to bring this up, not wanting to be responsible for a lot of righties jumping off the Penn Street Bridge.

But Tuesday’s elections showed the country making a political left turn.

Not sure if it was because voters have been watching too many left turns in NASCAR races or because conservatives have gone too far right.

Progressives won big in ballot measures nationwide, blocking right-wing measures on issues of voting, labor, immigrant and women’s rights.

Today the right was shedding more tears than Lindsay Lohan and Paula Abdul competing in a celebrity onion-peeling contest.

Granted, conservatives may pooh-pooh an off-year election as inconsequential, but it certainly is a more richly satisfying process than the way Third World dictators are chosen.
