The Iraq war is at an end. And it wrought what?

The U.S. war in Iraq is dwindling down to its final moments.

At last.

What a colossal waste of lives and resources.

Nearly 4,500 U.S. troops and an estimated 150,000 Iraqis have died in a war launched to find weapons of mass destruction that were a myth and to overthrow Saddam Hussein, who had really nothing to do with 9/11 or Osama bin Laden.

After all this death and destruction, after all this squandered military spending, all we did was wind up replacing a dictator with a Shiite-run state that now is kissing cousins with the Iranians.

I wonder what images appear on the back of George W. Bush’s eyelids every night.
