Edward Klein has a new biography out on Barack Obama and apparently it doesn’t rival French pastry as a puff piece. Klein seems to have a piranha’s appetite.
The title hardly is flattering. “The Amateur” is taken directly, according to Klein, from Bill Clinton’s bombshell criticism of the president.
“Barack Obama,” Bill Clinton said, “is an amateur.”
The book claims that Clinton pressed wife Hillary to quit as secretary of state and challenge Obama in the primaries, saying that “doesn’t know how to be president” and is “incompetent.”
Did the soul of Newt Gingrich suddenly inhabit Bill Clinton? I wondered what Newt was doing after he quit the race.
Hillary evidently thought that challenging an incumbent president of the same party was akin to Evel Knievel trying to jump the Snake River Canyon and opted not to.
Of course, this could be more fable than Aesop’s Tales considering that Bill Clinton is actively campaigning for Obama’s re-election.
Granted, it could be possible that neither Hillary nor David Copperfield would be needed to make Obama disappear.
In a poll released Friday by Rasmussen Reports, Mitt Romney has opened up his largest lead yet over Obama, 50% to 43%, in a survey of likely voters.
If Obama suddenly develops a facial tic, you’ll know why.
