Slow start, soft finish doom Eagles in state title game

The Eagles kicked one away today, getting splattered with ketchup at Heinz Field as Shaun Suisham’s 34-yard field goal in the dying seconds booted the Steelers to an inevitable 16-14 win.

You could sum the loss up in two words: woeful, doleful.

Michael Vick again had an atrocious start, fumbling twice — one of them just a yard shy from scoring a touchdown. His turnover problem is getting bigger than a Hoover attachment.

Vick did mount another comeback, flinging two touchdown passes.

But the comeback couldn’t sustain itself. The Steelers moved through the Philadelphia defense like it was shaving cream to set up the decisive FG.

Poland offered more resistance against Hitler. Which was about the last time the Birds sacked a QB.

Now the Eagles are 3-2 and it’s getting doubtful this year’s edition will tear off a swatch of history and win a Super Bowl.
